My "Rom-Com"

Yesterday, I was a little leery of the whole communicate-with-the-world-by-the-click-of-a-button ordeal I was facing.

After just 24 hours into the experience, I am loving it.

In one day, I have:

talked to Kit in Scotland
Video-chatted with Kate in France
Video-chatted with Amy in Rome
Talked to some poor, random souls in Essex whom I called just bc their last name was either Tavis or Stott
Talked to Grennan's parents in Essex

So. An update is in order. I am 110% obsessed and consumed with the notion of tracking down G.

He emailed me a cell number in September and I just called it for the first time today. Somebody answered. Conversation ensued:

"Hello?"
"Hi... is there a Grennan there?"
"No, he moved."
"But he did live there? You know him?!?"
"Well yes, he's my son."
"This is Ali-"
(to her husband in the next room) "It's Ali! It's Ali!"
(then I hear the man walking closer to his wife)

THEY KNOW WHO I AM AND GOT EXCITED WHEN I CALLED. i will gladly take this as a sign.

"Do you know of any way I can get a hold of Grennan?"
"Well, no. He moved to America 6 months ago and we haven't heard from him."
"Really? He lives here now? Do you know where he is?"
"No. Hold on a second. Let me put my husband on the line."
"Ok."
"Hello, darling. Yes, Grennan moved to the States and we have been waiting to hear from him. We figured he'd have contacted us by now, but he hasn't."
"And you have no idea where he is?"
"No. For all I know he could be married by now!"
"And you have no way, whatsoever, to contact him?"
"No, but give me your number and I will try to get in touch with somebody over there who might know where he is. I'll pass along your number and hope that he calls you."
.... yada yada yada

I am hellbent on finding him. These are the facts I have:

1. Grennan Stott (which isn't his original birth name- he legally changed it a few weeks before coming to camp)
2. July 9, 1980
3. A cell number for his parents in Essex
4. A cell number he used in early 2007 when he briefly lived in South Lyon.

But just to revisit this, because it makes my heart feel so good; his parents know who Ali is.
