In yet another attempt to contact a tall, handsome Englishman I once knew, I downloaded Skype today. I have his cell number, but lack a phone capable of international calling, and Skype seemed to be the answer.
This is getting ridiculous. I have Adium, iChat, and Skype. I can be reached by phone, email, facebook, myspace, or any one of the perviously listed messaging programs. I am either on my computer, or clinging to my phone.
I can be reached through 7 mediums. Why do we feel the need to make ourselves so available? Thankfully, I am not a slave to my phone like most people- I don't have to answer, and I don't have to listen to voicemail immediately.
MLA and I do basically have an open line of communication for all waking hours- it is such a comfort to go to my computer and know that she will be at the other end of a little box filled with text.
I don't know what I am trying to say. We are too comfortable with the internet/technology.
Just today I video chatted with my friend in Rome. Then I Skyped Scottish Kit from the ranch and we talked for 15 minutes. While it is nice to talk to people and stay in touch, I don't know how I really feel about the capabilities.
In other news, I went searching through iPhoto for my Hero's Journey photo for the Head Artichoke and ended up looking at pictures from the past 2.5 years.
And I came up with a mission: Post your top 3 favorite photos of all time. It is really hard to decide, but I think the results could be really interesting. Really curious to see what MLA comes up with- she makes me want to form some guidelines, like, "they have to be of your life" and not in the "it is part of my life! i laughed really hard when i found a picture of a lobster reading a newspaper on the toilet when i google-imaged 'pooping crustacian!'"
So there is your challenge; top three photos of your life.
