My Retention = pitiful

In sixth grade we had to learn every country and its repsective capital, and every state and its capital. We were given blank maps and had to fill them in. I am no Boges, but I remember getting A's.

What I am trying to say is that at one point in my life I could locate any country in the world.

Yesterday I watched the Sound of Music, and Adriana and I couldn't remember where Austria was.

Today at brunch I had no idea where Uruguay.

I spent the entire summer thinking that Scottish Kit Binnie was from an island (but in my defense, I found a 20 other people who also thought that Scotland was a small island between the UK and Ireland).

I have been to Belize, but just today realized that it is not an island.

Enough examples of my stupidity. Today I printed out and tacked up maps of South and Central America, and Western Europe. I plan to sleep with these maps glued to my head, giving osmosis a fighting chance.

Peace, love, and ponies.

Just to point out the decaying American school system: you are only four years or so ahead of me in school, and only went to school in the next school district up, but in my sixth grade we only had to learn the western European capitals, nothing else, no Africa, South America, Asia, and even in eighth grade most kids thought that the capital of Australia was Sydney and had never heard of Canberra, also most thought that Australia was apart of Asia! Funny how fast the education system deteriorates in four years time!
